Xmas Vurger: So what's inside?

It’s the big count down!! We have the start of our festive pop ups coming this Sunday 27th November, complete with a full festive menu which you can see in this link. 

So what is the Xmas Vurger made of?

We thought we’d go one step further and share the benefits of some of the main ingredients contained in our Xmas Berry Vurger.

LENTILS

The lentils formulate the base of our Xmas Vurger, not only because they are an excellent source of dietary fibre but also:-

·         Iron

·         Protein

·         Vitamin B1

·         Zinc

 

But what does this mean? The health benefits of eating lentils can include:

·         Lower cholesterol

·         Healthy Heart as they contain high levels of magnesium

·         Great for digestive health too.

 

Lentils are completely hassle free when cooking with and have a high nutritional value so we simply couldn’t ignore the beautiful little legumes. There’s no stopping us now, the more lentils the better!

NUTS! WALNUTS / PISTACHIOS / PECANS

Walnuts, together with Pistachios and pecans are rich in Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids, and have simply become our favourite festive nut selection.  Often the simplest of foods contain the highest nutritional value, packed full of protein, healthy fats, antioxidants and vitamins! So why should we eat these mighty nuts?

-          Cancer fighting properties

Several studies have shown the benefits of eating a small quantity of these nuts regularly slowing the stimulation of cancer cells.

-          Brain health

Walnuts are proven to contain a number of neuroprotective compounds which supports brain health which is not only the best for current health but also enhances cognitive and motor function during the ageing process. (source mercola.com)

-          Diabetes

These wonderful nuts also contain the benefit of improving metabolic parameters also reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes.

-          Source of Vitamin E

Pistachios in particular are a great source of Vitamin E, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of cell membranes and renewal.

APRICOTS

Apricots, not the usual type of ingredient to include in a burger, however they add an incredible natural sweetness and are packed with their own set of brilliant benefits. Dried fruit is a fantastic way of increasing your intake of dietary fibre, potassium, iron and antioxidants. Just one cup contains 158 micrograms of Vitamin A – now we think that’s enough reason to pack these beauties into our Vurgers. 

 

CRANBERRIES

Cranberries are such a festive fruit, the smell taste and texture is enough to make us think of Christmas over and over again. They too are packed full of health benefits. With preventative cancer qualities and ability to decrease blood pressure, why aren’t there more of these wonderful berries in our food?

 

So there you have it, a Christmas burger that’s packed full of ingredients that will not only send your tastebuds to heaven but also have great nutritional value. Each unique ingredient contains its own set of mind blowing health benefits, and when packed together and teamed with our spiced cabbage and warm cranberry sauce, there is nothing more heart warming than a burger that isn’t so bad for you after all!
