Vegucation! Some veg-tastic facts from The Vurger Co

We’ve spent a long time lovingly crafting our delicious veggie burgers and we are so incredibly happy that hungry Londoners are absolutely loving them, and coming back for more! We can (and do!) talk all day long about how much goodness you’ll find inside our Vurger family, and how satisfied your soul (and body!) will be after eating them, but we thought we can go one step further.

So in the interests of our own special ‘vegucation’, here’s some of our main ingredients used throughout our food and a summary of some of the amazing things they will do for you.

 

Shroomelt

Mushrooms – low in calories, fat-free, cholesterol-free, low in sodium, and a great source of selenium, potassium, riboflavin, niacin and vitamin D.

Lentils – help to lower cholesterol, high in fibre, a source of folate and magnesium for heart health, good source of protein, help to stabilise blood sugar levels, slow-burn complex carbohydrates for increased energy levels.

Onion – great source of vitamin C to boost your immune system, chromium to regulate blood sugar, help to lower cholesterol, anti-inflammatory and healing properties, reduce the risk of gastric ulcers, a good source of vitamin A.

Garlic – contains allicin which has medicinal properties, low in calories, a great source of manganese, vitamin B6, vitamin C, selenium, fibre, calcium and iron, helps to lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

 

BBQ Nut

Sprouted brown rice – sprouted means that the grains are germinated delivering more nutrients and making them easier to digest, no saturated fat, low in calories, high in fibre and protein, high in vitamins E, B1 and B6 and high in magnesium.

Black beans – high in protein and fibre, high in iron, phosphorous, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc, contribute to lowering blood pressure, contains pholate and vitamin B6 contributing to heart health, high in selenium which has all sorts of amazing properties.

Walnuts – high in the amino acid l-arginine which is great for heart health, high in omega 3, packed with antioxidants, contain powerful compounds such as vitamin E, folate and melatonin which all support brain health.

Avocado – the real superfood, high in vitamins K, C, B5, B6 and E, high in potassium (more than bananas!) and folate, packed with heart-healthy monounsaturated fatty acids, high in fibre, proven to lower ‘bad’ cholesterol (LDL) and triglyceride levels and increase ‘good’ cholesterol (HDL), loaded with powerful antioxidants.

 

 

 

Quin-wahh!

Quinoa – known as “the mother of all grains” by the ancient Inca Empire and for good reason, very high in protein, fibre, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous, folate, copper, iron, zinc and potassium, in addition to vitamins B1, B2, B6, B3 and E, full of powerful antioxidants.

Carrot – help to lower cholesterol and improve heart health, help to lower blood pressure, high in vitamin C to boost the immune system and vitamin A to improve eyesight, high in fibre, and full of antioxidants.

Chickpeas – high in protein, fibre, manganese, folate, iron, phosphate, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and vitamin K, low sodium and the high fibre, potassium and mineral content helps support a healthy heart, high in selenium.

Mango – packed with powerful antioxidants, high in fibre, pectin and vitamin C to help lower cholesterol, great for healthy skin, high in vitamin A for healthy eyes, high in vitamin E.

 

Sweet Cali

Sweet potato – high in vitamins B6, C and D, high in iron, magnesium and potassium, natural sugars which release slowly helping to ensure a balanced and regular source of energy minimising blood sugar spikes, high in carotenoids such as beta carotene which help strengthen eyesight and boost immunity to disease, high in antioxidants.

White beans – packed with antioxidants, high in detoxifying molybdenum, a low GI food, high in protein and fibre, slow-digesting complex carbohydrate, high in zinc and copper which can help prevent premature skin ageing, packed with magnesium.

Tahini – high in phosphorous, lecithin, magnesium, potassium and iron, a good source of methionine which helps liver detoxification, one of the best sources of calcium, high in vitamins E, B1, B2, B3, B5 and B15, helps maintain healthy skin, high in protein, high in unsaturated (good!) fats, easy to digest because of its high alkaline mineral content.

Tomato – full of powerful antioxidants, high in vitamins A, C and K, high in potassium and iron, proven to help lower cholesterol, high in fibre, helps to lower blood pressure, helps to support healthy skin.

 

So there you have it, nothing but pure, wholesome, great and delicious veggie burgers. No soya, no tofu and no pretenders! Just simple produce, combined in the perfect way, to produce the best veggie burgers in London!
