DOING IT OUR WAY!

Our co-founder Neil suffered with debilitating stomach issues that no doctor or test could pin-point the cause. With a big birthday impending, we took the time to travel to California and discovered a whole new wave of plant based living! The amazing tastes and textures were like nothing we had experienced or available in London at the time in 2016.

Making our way back to London and settling back into our day to day lives, we couldn’t believe how restricted our diet was. We couldn’t access great fresh vegan food packed with flavour that didn’t have a base of seitan or substitute that was nutritionally obsolete. So we immediately knew there was an incredible opportunity to create a restaurant concept that made vegetables the main event, in fun, interesting and fresh new ways.

That’s when The Vurger Co was born with a mission of revolutionising fast food through the power of plants.

How did our restaurant journey begin?

We started as a small market stall back in 2016 just to test our concept and gain that initial immediate feedback! Having quickly realised that our customers wanted the full experience from us, we developed from market stall to events, pop ups, festivals and progressed to crowdfunding our first ever restaurant in Shoreditch in March 2018.

How did our retail product journey begin?

In between raising our funds and opening our first site, we even managed to launch a test range of eat at home burgers, sold in every Planet Organic store in London. With our whole goal of ensuring that plant based food is convenient, delicious and available as much as possible. However with the impending opening of the restaurant, and the explosion of sales with our products, we simply didn’t have the manufacturing ability to service both.

So we are proud and honoured to be able to bring back these products into Planet Organic stores across London from June 2019 onwards. Keep an eye out for our future product range!

From our humble beginnings

we have managed to achieve so much! We have collaborated with amazing chefs such as Chloe Coscarelli, amazing brands such as Tabasco Sauce Brand and attended amazing events and festivals, including Wilderness, Lululemon Sweatlife festival and Eat Drink Vegan in Los Angeles. 

Last June 2018 we teamed up with the insanely talented Gaz Oakley to create the most amazing vegan burger. Owing to its success and amazing partnership, Gaz has become a huge part of our team and joined us as our Executive Chef. 

We have even managed to open our second site in Canary Wharf in November 2018! 

We have grand plans for The Vurger Co, all in keeping with our mission of revolutionising fast food through the power of plants, to make vegan food as accessible and convenient as possible.
